Ways Of Reinforcement is a collection of seating objects exploring the possibilities of reinforced concrete. Partly revealing the steel reinforcement inside the concrete, the series shows the beauty that lies in elements of urban construction.
The structures of building are usually well hidden and therefore beyond common awareness, although we are surrounded by them every day in an urban environment. These hidden structures are formed by a unique hybrid material, a combination of concrete and steel, where concrete guarantees compressive strength and steel provides tensile strength.
As reinforcement exists in different ways: as sheets, reinforcing bars and even different kind of fibers – each stool makes use of a different way of reinforcement. Introducing color and new forms, the characteristic rigidity and monumentality become obsolete, emphasizing it as a material for the living environment without preconfigured limitations.
